Outside! prepared the wetland compensation plan in coordination with Nova Scotia Department of the Environment. Work included the preparation of the design for the wetland, working drawings and overseeing construction of the new wetland. The intent is to create both an open space and reestablish natural habitat for birds and wildlife. We recreated the bones of the new wetland and are allowing Mother Nature to really work her magic and return the site to a fully functioning ecosystem.
Amy - original wording you saw is below in case you want to use it:
turn the space in order the excavate contaminated infill and re-create a segment of the original watershed, with inlets, outlets and native colonizing plants to encourage the return of flora and fauna and protect habitat for cold water brook trout.
Rain gardens and bioswales help attenuate water so it stays on site, provides water for plants and replenishes the local aquifer instead of running into the municipal waste water system. Outside! works with landowners to determine the best approach.
