Similar to what LEED^® has done for green building design, the Sustainable Sites Initiative brings attention to the need for sustainable landscape practices. Traditionally, Outside! has focused on the use of native plant material, alternatives to the traditional lawn and preservation of soils on site. The Sustainable Sites Initiatives brings a greater level of awareness to many landscape sustainability issues and Outside! continues to incorporate new and more sustainable measures into standard practice.
